MAUI POINTS OF VIEW

THE HILLS OF THE HANA AREA
ARE LACED WITH WATERFALLS,
AS CLOUDS RELEASE THEIR WATER ON THE UPPER SLOPES
OF GIANT HALEAKALA, AND THIS WATER WORKS ITS WAY
DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, CARVING MULTIPLE VALLEYS
AND GULCHES, BEFORE SPILLING INTO THE OCEAN.

THESE PHOTOS EXPLORE
A FEW OF THE GREAT WATERFALLS OF HANA,
THE OHEO GULCH, SOUTH WAILUA FALLS
AND WAIMOKU FALLS.

OHEO GULCH
Haleakala National Park extends from the summit of the mountain to the sea,
incorporating many square miles of inaccessible forest and ending in the Kipahulu
district, some few miles beyond Hana. This is the spectacular Oheo Gulch, a series
of waterfalls and pools in the National Park.

SOUTH WAILUA FALLS
Just few miles beyond Hana is South Wailua Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the
island. And it's surprisingly easy to find, lying right along the roadside. No hiking necessary.

WAIMOKU FALLS
Not far from the Oheo gulch is a hiking trail that takes you
to two more falls. One is a half-mile hike and the other is nearly three
miles. The three mile hike will take you through some of Maui's most
incredible jungle. Thick stands of giant bamboo. Trails so muddy they
put down planks so you can walk! But the goal is a waterfall that is
beyond description.
